    First Outing in TW

First proper outing for the TW. I need to get some tree huggers.

Looks nice. I fancy a bit of cycle camping; I certainly sleep well after a good ride.
good webbing can be bought cheap from a chandlers or similar to make tree huggers. I think mine cost about a fiver for the pair.

Nice photo Paul. I must dust off my mountain bike (currently hung on the wall in the garage) and take it out for a spin…with the hammock

Good idea re the seat belts but guess you'd have some stitching to do

I would just tie bowlines in the ends

            ^^^^
Bowlines don't work well with webbing. An overhand knot on a bight is stronger and won't slip but a PITA to undo after being loaded. A figure 8 knot on a bight would be easier to undo if you needed to.

            Back to the OP

it seems I don't have any recent pics so here is one from earlier this year.

Nice pic. many thanks for posting.

Didn't your TW come with tree huggers included? (The TW ones are the long green 'fabric fell' ones, they were supplied with mine and those that my friends have brought).

I have chosen not to use the webbing on mine and use rappel rings and climbing ropes, however, as soon as my extra whoopie slings arrive I shall be using them.

I hope you found the TW as comfortable as I did, a cracking piece of kit IMO.

                Cheers
                Steve

Thanks Steve. Yes the TW did come with straps but I would be more comfortable (In my mind) if I used something much wider to go around the trees.

The Hornet XL was very comfortable and I have no complaints at all. It is a great piece of kit

                    Hi Aman,

Seatbelts are strong but bulky and heavy ...
Stitching a loop is a better solution, a knot (like bowline) will grow the size when packing (bigger than a fist)
