I've been wanting to swap the stock suspension on my Amazonas as it's a little basic, a cord running through the end channels with a hook on the end. It worked okay for the garden stand but lacked decent adjustability for out and about.
So I've had a go at making loops and whoopies using the handy tool from @Steve B.
I wasn't happy with my efforts at making continuous loops as they seem to work themselves apart when not loaded so I used the locked bummel method which seems a lot more secure. I made a 20cm loop from Amsteel which goes through the sewn channel on the hammock and is finished with a larks foot knot to leave a loop at the end of the hammock.
Next I used 380cm of Amsteel to make a whoopie which will larks foot on to the hammock loop. This gives 135cm of adjustability at each end, much more useful than before. I included a little bead on the loop to stop it being inadvertently pulled through the bury.
All in all pretty please with the results.
I'm going to replace the ridge line also but not sure of best way as yet. I might do a massive 'dog bone' that I can larks foot on to the hammock loops.....any other ideas folks?
