    The Emperor's New Tarp

Made a prototype for my new tarp, with cross-linked polyolefin. Gossamer Gear call it Polycryo, but you might know it as double glazing film.
Amazing tough stuff, the ultralighters use it as groundsheets as well as tarps.
The material came out as 300g, but I went a bit overboard with the tie-outs, I wouldn't be surprised if I doubled the weight.
    It has a 136" ridgeline and is 118" wide (3.5 x 3m).
A tarp for stargazers and exhibitionists!

Using the cheapo pullouts I got off ebay (slightly modded)

      Looks good.

What fabric are you planning on making the finished tarp from..........or is it still going to be polycro....?

I have to say I'm really impressed gadget. That's a great looking tarp mate. Will you be staying with the transparent look?

That's really cool. I think long term testing is in order by leaving it out all summer as a tomato station, you could hang out with tomatoes, talk to them, lure those tomatoes into a false sense of security... Then BAM hammock toasties.

Looking at your model, make sure you don't have a spinal tap moment :-)

Lighter than I was expecting, 338g
                      Not bad for a 3.5 x 3m

This is what the finished article will be made from, pretty light too at 354g (wonder what 10 tie-outs will add to that).

That is a great weight fabric. My silnylon 3.6 x 3 comes in at about 600g
Im so in the mood for a project at the mo

Looks great. Good luck with the build👍
                      I'm assuming we'll be seeing the results☺
That's a good overlap on the doors but don't forget about venting

It would be pretty rare I closed it down that much, just wanted to know it was possible. I usually keep at least one of the downwind doors open. And if you look carefully at the end view, you can see a fair gap at the top of the doors, where the hammock suspension goes thru.
