    Tree Strap Timber Hitch

Been playing with a different way to hang my hammock. It's a detachable system, using a single strand of dyneema attached to a tree strap, adjusted at the hammock end with a loop alien (so you can stay under your tarp). And the tree strap is shortenable at the tree...

Sorry about the sound, bit of a rush job.

I'm hankering after some Adutchable Clips and Speed Hooks, but in the meantime, this seems pretty grippy...

    one wrap,

    two wraps,

    three wraps,

I can just larkshead my Amsteel straight onto the eye at the end of the strap. Useful for narrow hangs.

Of course, the same could be achieved using a marlinspike hitch and whoopies, but this can be adjusted very small and uses less dyneema.

Loving the video's Gadget, there seems to be no end to the use of the aliens, keep it up mate

Did something similar with the loop aliens you sent. Larks footed a single line of dyneema on the end of the strap used the tree strap in a regular way and pulled the cord through. I thought it would be good this way for reducing the amount of webbing needed for those times you only have larger diameter trees available.
