    Okay if your soloing in I think I'll start at Harford walk to piles copse, find a good spot then carry on North and try to find a old fort a friend told me about.
    Then loop back south.

    What time are you thinking of getting going?
    Also "RV'ing"??

      Not done much walking in this area, so would like to explore, very welcome to join me.
      My grand plan runs thus;
      Park up at Cross Furzes, SX 700 666
      Thru Dean Burn Ford SX 698 665

      Get on the moor at Water Oak Corner SX 686 660

      Follow the Abbots Way down to Avon Dam SX 679 652

        Follow the valley and check out Black Tor and the Beare

        Then head West, over Old Hill to Piles Copse SX 643 621

        Then on Sunday, head back North, up the Two Moors Way
        Past Huntingdon Warren Farm SX 666 669

        Get off the moor at Lud Gate SX 683 673

        And back to the car (with maybe a detour to check out Scae Wood, SX691 678)

        Obviously very weather/energy dependant, If weather (or me) is rubbish, Harford is definitely my fallback position.

        RV = rendezvous

          About 9km (5.5 miles) on Saturday and 12km (7.5miles) on Sunday, both with reasonable chances to cut off corners if necessary.

                It'll be bracing!
                Fresh to strong NE'lies, -1C overnight (feels like -6C)
                Sheltered side of the wood I think.

                  Should be fun.
                  Down in the wood it's quite sheltered from the wind.
                  I've stayed there in a really big storm and the biggest problem was water flowing under my hammock.

                    Good times.
                    Thanks J for introducing me to Piles Copse. Apologies for the forced march in, with your behemoth pack!
                    Data logger reports it only went down to 0.2C, so not a legit freezing-butt hang.

                    Breakfast from the hammock, Tea thermos mug in the hiking boot cup-holder and chocolate fruit and nut porridge brewing up in the pot-cozy
