Here is your dinky Superlight under the various tarps,

As you can see the Sargasso, and even more so the DD 4.5x3m, give you heaps of coverage at each end. But that coverage is wasted, it's not where your hammock is.
Now, the DD 4.5x3m is wider too, but this isn't as useful as you might imagine. Because of the extra length, you cannot pitch it as low, so it won't cover the bottom of your hammock very much better anyway.
The 3x3m, because it is shorter can be pitched that much closer to the hammock ridgeline, and so will give you better side coverage.
Width is a better friend than length, especially in a short hammock.
I think the rule is something like your tarp should be at least 6 inches longer than your Hammock SRL at each end; but more than a foot at each end is not doing you much good.

My thinking, after a lot of deliberation was the 4x4, now, that pitched on the diamond, now we're talking +/- 2m past each end and depending on height could give masses of side cover, but we've done it again, hijacked another thread, all great info your giving by the by, I suppose the search for THE ultimate set up continues

I've decided for my next purchase I'm going for the full coverage fly from Pak-it-Lite to compliment my kit. As Bowlin said that will give me different tarps for different occasions.

What is the weight/ pack size of this Stevie?

Would you tale it on a wild/ stealth camp where you have to hike in/ out?

          Hey Bowlin,
          Full Coverage Rainfly:
          Length: 8' | Weight: 3lbs, 13oz | Coverage Area: 48sf
          Urethane coated, 1.9oz ripstop nylon
Providing I could carry it comfortably I'd take it. Tend not to walk much more than a mile or so into camp and prefer to take as little as possible so shouldn't be an issue.

        Whoa, that's a house!
But at 1.75kg it won't be finding space in my pack anytime soon.
Nice to have full coverage and standing height too, ideal for those impromptu cocktail parties.

Am I being thick? This is designed for their hammocks, yes?
So why is it only 8' long?

          Lol, a house indeed.
I think the reading for the hammock is toggle to toggle so the space within the tarp is 8 foot with the attachments reaching out to the toggles not taken into account..
Love the cocktail party idea, dont often see those on the trail these days!
