    Greetings all

    Hi

Been lurking so long I didn't realise I hadn't registered. New hammocker as of Christmas. Spent several nights hanging in the garage but not yet had a chance to use it in anger outside ... Waiting for the 'nice' weather later in the year.

Hello and welcome Peter, great to have you onboard. How have you enjoyed your experience so far? Have you done a garage overnighter yet? It's always good to find space to setup and sort your hammock and get used to it before going into the woods.

Welcome Peter, so what hammock have you got? (The first of many no doubt).

I hope we do get some 'nice' weather (never guaranteed :-)) but when you get a little more experienced you should try hanging in all weathers, waking up snug and warm in a hammock to a frosty or snowy morning is glorious!

Enjoy the forum, looking forward to hearing about your first 'non-garage' experience.

      Cheers
      Steve.

Hi all - thanks for the welcome. Actually spent most of Christmas holiday sleeping in the garage. Both me and my kid got hammocks for xmas, he didn't have to try too hard to convince me we needed to try them out, lol. I got a Tenth wonder hornet, he got a DD one.
Have to say we've both been very comfortable in them. Looking forward to using them a bit further afield.

What are you using for top and bottom insulation?

                  Hi gadget
Well the family all clubbed together and so we both also got top and under quilts (and my birthday is in December too). I got the snugpack versions, junior got the DD ones. Despite appearing surprisingly thin, we had no problems with cold whatsoever. Garage is unheated and coldest outside temp would have been -2 or so, garage 5-10 degrees warmer perhaps. Cos both hammocks have a double sleeve I did put in camping mats too. I slept without a sleeping bag at all, junior did have one, so his overquilt was just left in a bundle at the end of his hammock 🙄.

Good to hear you're getting the next generation into hammocks as well!

Welcome to the forum. Where abouts do you live? Nice to hear you're getting your lad involved too. My daughter has been camping in hammocks for the last ten years and my two younger ones since they were little.
We have great times out together.
                      Nice to have you here.

Thanks for the fantastic welcome everyone. We're certainly looking forward to hammock camping once the weather picks up.

I'm in Livingston, Scotland - meant to say that in my first post.

You live in Scotland. Hm, waiting for the one hour of nice weather may take a very long time.
You better buy a really big tarp and a very close bugnet.
