    Hello from the Channel Islands

Hi guys, just joined up and thought I'd introduce myself.
My name is Callum and I am from the little 9 by 5 island of jersey. I am totally new to hammocking and have been building my gear up slowly, bag, hammock, bits and bobs you know the deal.
Being on a small island it's hard to find quiet and remote areas, so I'm really digging the idea of getting away to either UK or France to do some long hikes and wild hammocking.

Hi and welcome Callum, 9x5 doesn't give a lot of space I reckon lol in that sense we're spoilt over the water, anyway, enjoy your stay and we like pictures we do

          Hi Callum,

Welcome to the forum, so what gear have you got so far?

          Cheers

            Thanks for the warm welcome
Bopdude, your right it is small but beautiful non the less.
Bowlin I have been building up general camping gear since I was a kid, I've recently purchased a nice osprey bag and a Dream Hammock Darien, the way I look at it is I'll only get a few big trips a year so I might as well get the best I can afford, I'll be a long way from home and don't want stuff failing on me.
Currently waiting for UK hammocks to get their hex tarp back in stock, when they do I'll get one and probably one of their under quilts

Welcome to the forum Callum. You're the first from Jersey if I'm not mistaken.
Plenty of people here who would be happy to show you some nice spots around the country.

Thanks bud, I'm hoping there are a couple of others over here that I haven't bumped into yet, if I find them I'll be sending them straight here.
Ill welcome any help on offer.
Are there any trails in the UK that would take maybe 3 days 2 nights to hike that are hammock friendly?

Some sections of the SW coast path have good wooded sections.
The West Highland Way has a LOT of forest!
The Southern section of the Wye Valley Way (Chepstow - Monmouth).
The New Forest (there's a couple of hammock friendly campsites too, if you tire of stealthiness)

Stealth camping on Jersey looks like an interesting challenge.
                    The north of the island might hold some possibilities;
                    • the woods in the valley from LaGrève de Lecq up to Les Colombiers?
                    • Mourier Valley?
                    • La Vallette?
                    • The hills above Bouley Bay?
                    • La Vallee de Rozel?
                    • Several paths through the woods From Gibraltar to Rozel Manor?
In late, out early - I reckon some of those might work.

Hi Callum I'd head south for more freedom and sunshine.

Hi Callum and welcome. Great to have you here. You mentioned France. We have a member here from Spain. Ok it's not France but there has been talk of joining Mefa out there for a few days at some point.

Cheers gadget I know these places and I am looking at the whole island in a different light now I'm going to check out the woods above Bouley bay as its a quiet area. Cheers for the pointers 😀

Mefa? Please excuse my ignorance but what's that?

Mega is me, I live in Southern Spain. In a small village called Iznajar an hour north of Malaga. We are on the edge of the largest lake in Andalucia. The campsite off the beach is run by a friend of mine and he will allow members of this forum to hang in the pine trees for three euros per night. This includes all facilities of the site. The only time he cannot offer this price is during fiestas as the site is usually full with holidaying Spanish families then. Let me know if anyone is interested.
